Erebus and Terror of Franklins lost expedition
The HMS Erebus and HMS Terror were two ships that were part of Sir John Franklins Lost Expedition to the Arctic in 1845. Both ships were technologically advanced for their time and were equipped with steam engines to navigate the Arctic waters. The expedition sought to find the Northwest Passage but became trapped in the ice and never returned. After several years without news of the ships, a search was initiated that led to their discovery in 2014 and 2016. Although remains of the expedition were found, the exact cause of its failure was never determined, leading to many theories and speculations. The Erebus and Terror are remembered as symbols of Arctic exploration and the bravery of the explorers who ventured into an unknown and dangerous territory.
